Fall 2011 Season

T-Ball Division
Children ages 4, 5 & 6, hit the ball off of a batting tee. They learn the rules of the game, and basic motors skills. They also learn the basics of participating in a team sport. The focus is fun. Players are placed in fun and action-packed games where they are taught the merits of teamwork and sportsmanship, and winning and losing is de-emphasized. Each player has the opportunity to come to bat and run the bases each inning.
Teams practice and play games once a week at Kennedy Recreation Center located at 1401 7th Street, NW. Games are on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. For more information, please contact the

AA Division
The AA Division is for 7 and 8 year olds. Players hit the ball from a pitching machine. Emphasis is placed upon proper throwing and hitting mechanics, as well as defense/fielding. Conditioning is introduced. The focus is skill development. An emphasis is placed on fielding positions and hitting instruction. Outs and score are kept for the first time.

AAA Division
The AAA Division is for 9 and 10 year olds. Player-pitch. Players learn 4-seam grip and proper throwing motion. Hand-eye coordination and fielding fundamentals are gained through repetition. Contact hitting is established. Conditioning is elevated. The play of catchers and base running also become a premium as base stealing is introduced to the game. The focus is muscle-memory and comradery through competition.
Teams practice and play games at Banneker Upper Field located at 2500 Georgia Avenue, NW. Games are on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. For more information, please contact the

Majors Division
The Majors Division is for 11 and 12 year olds. Pitchers learn variations of 3 basic pitches. Arm strength, command and control are introduced. Bat speed is developed. Conditioning is a staple. Introduction to advanced baseball topics. The Majors division has more advanced pitching and overall faster game speed than the AAA division. The focus is mental toughness.

Softball Division
Girls ages 9 through 12 learn fundamentals and play competitive softball. Games are on Sunday afternoons at Upshur Park located at 4300 Arkansas Avenue, NW, with practice once a week. For more information, please contact the
